SHORT · STUDIO
Fàájì Games is a small independent studio in Nigeria making digital versions of Nigerian and West African games, and new games in Yoruba. Its first game is Ayò Ọlọ́pọ́n, the Yoruba seed-sowing board game, out now on the web, with Android and iOS to follow.

SHORT · AYÒ ỌLỌ́PỌ́N
Ayò Ọlọ́pọ́n is the Yoruba seed-sowing game on a 3D wooden board: twelve pits, forty-eight seeds, captures in twos and threes. Play the computer, friends, or tournaments, in your browser on any phone.

LONG
"Fàájì" is Yoruba for enjoyment: the good time you have when the work is done. Fàájì Games, founded in Nigeria in 2026, makes the games West Africans grew up playing, rebuilt properly for the phone in your pocket and the data plan on it, alongside brand-new games written in Yoruba first. The studio's first release is Ayò Ọlọ́pọ́n, the Yoruba mancala, with the rules as they are actually played under the mango tree: sow anticlockwise, capture in twos and threes. It runs in any browser with no download, with Android and iOS versions to follow. Players can face the computer, challenge friends, or enter community tournaments such as the Lagos Open. Next on the board: an unannounced game, coming 2027.

Pronunciation: FAH-ah-jee. Yoruba for "enjoyment".
